Friday, Day 7: Happy... Canada Day?

We went out! We were back and forth about whether we'd stay in and relax or hit the town... We played Uno in the guesthouse and seemed resigned to that... But then the music drifting up from the bar got the better of us. And what type of traditional music was it you ask? Western pop songs performed by a local Cambodian music group. But wait, it gets better... It was a Canada Day celebration!!! There was even a Canadian outfit competition where the winner (a Cambodian girl who looked about 10yo wearing a Canucks outfit) won a bottle of Canadian whiskey... Umm., yeah... I skipped the special menu offering (poutine) and opted for drinks with the girls. Lesson: if you let Borpha pick your drinks you end up doing shots og jegermeister and tequila... I probably didn't need to chase those with a Manhattan but, you know, these things happen. We met a douchy real estate developer from Chicago wearing orange J Crew pants who is only important to the story to talk about how dumb his pants were. Then we met Dominic, my new Kiwi friend. He's an open-source programmer from NZ traveling through Cambodia before taking a job in 2 weeks in Basil, Switzerland - where Molly lived for 13 years and where she will be visiting in September! Small world! He's quite fascinating (he lived on a boat for a while And in a hammock in the woods outside of Wellington!) And we talked until the bar closed. We're both out of town this week but we're going to hang out next weekend when we get back. ... He's nice but my BBFF is exactly 8.6x sweeter and 272.4x hotter and I'm super in love with him :)
